Installing Laminate Flooring Around Drain

The concrete sub floor seems flat enough for the flooring except for around the floor drain.

In this video i am showing how to install laminate flooring for the first time. How to install vinyl plank flooring as a beginner. If the floor was flat level i would just cover it up and assume it s fine. But the floor slopes towards the drain pretty aggressively.

It dropps about 1 2 in about a 8 radius around the drain 16 diameter total. See my flooring install playlist. Luckily it s close to the wall and kitchen sink where it will rarely be walked on. The product we are using in this video is lowes quick step.

Slide the first two rows into their final position and repeat steps 5 and 6 above using the same alternating plank technique to complete the process. It s flat ish for most of the room but the 2 feet or so around the drain are sloped quite a bit. Laminate flooring material is a man made product that sprung out of the do it yourself era giving homeowners the ability to have a simulated wood. I m concerned the snap together flooring light buckle or come apart because of the slope.

There is obviously some grading in the rest of the room but it is very suttle and smooth so i don t think it would be an issue. When installing a floating laminate floor you don t need to use any adhesive nails or staples. I m trying to figure the best way to install the flooring in that area. There is a floor drain right in the middle of the room with the obvious grading around it.
