Ironing On A Carpet

When irons fall onto the carpet there are three different levels of burn marks that remain.

For nylon or similar use the low setting. Spray the stain with 2 tablespoons of ammonia in a cup of hot water. No matter how it happens it will leave a very noticeable black mark. Iron burns on carpet happen from time to time.

You don t necessarily have to replace the entire piece of carpet to fix the damage. Rub it in with a stiff bristled brush and leave for 2 hours. Rewet the towel if necessary to prevent burning. If the carpet is a wool one put it on high.

Sometimes the iron sits for only a second and the very tops of the fibers are damaged. Fill the iron s tank with water and set to steam. Make sure that the seam iron is on the designated temperature that you need and then press it directly onto the seam tape. Stay in each position for about 15 seconds then move the length of the iron.

Whether you accidentally dropped a hot iron or scorched it while working on iron on crafts there s not much you can do to remove the stain once the heat. Scorch marks happen even on carpet. Under the edges of the carpet place a strip of carpet seam tape. Go from one end of the seam to the other.

While you heat up the tape press the two edges of the carpet down into it and up against one another. You may be ironing quickly and the iron slips out of your hand or you set the iron onto the ironing board and it accidentally falls onto the carpet. Apply the iron to the towel moving slowly across the entirety of the seam.
