I can t put it on the desk because it could literally kill the kids if it fell off on them or even the dogs. Typically these are adjustable rolling stands made of either metal or plastic. But carpets are really good at trapping dust pet hair and all manner of other things. If the carpet is a problem consider putting it on a platform or stand on the carpet.
